Bangaa Hume Moogle Seeq Viera

Bangaa

The bangaas are a reptilian race, their bodies covered with scales and their ears dropping well below their tapered snouts. If one puts aside these physical differences, their intelligence and mannerisms bear little difference from those of humes. For this reason, they are often considered the race most at home among humes. However, there are those humes who do not accept them, typically using the racial slur “lizard man” to demean them when they are safely out of earshot.

Bangaas may live twice as long as the average hume, bearing offspring infrequently. They are strong, with a keen sense of hearing and smell.

They speak in guttural tones, lacking the refined vocal organs to articulate themselves as the other races might. This makes it difficult for a bangaa to master any but the most rudimentary of hume magic.

Still, there are some bangaas who become adept mages, wielding powerful magic unique to their race’s reptilian tounge.

Hume

Many different peoples inhabit the world of Ivalice, resulting in a broad array of cultures, each with varying levels of technological advancement.

The cultures of other races bear a close resemblance to that of humes, the most populous race in Ivalice.

There exist more advance races, but they tend toward seclusion. Humes are the most diverse of Ivalice’s races and continually seek to bring new territories and lands under their sway.

It is believed that humes now make up under half of the population of Ivalice.

Moogle

Moogles are known for the soft, fluffy fur on their bodies, bat like wings on their backs, and brightly colored pompoms bobbing atop their heads. They are small, coming up no higher than the waist of an adult hume. Moogles are extremely intelligent and live as humes do, enabling them to move effortlessly in the society of humes.

Exceedingly dexterous, moogles make for superb machinists. It is even said that mooglecraft is behind the invention of airships, one of the most important mechanical innovations in Ivalice’s long history.

In fact, it is widely believed that their affinity for machinery grew from a need to compensate for their physical shortcomings when battling humes and the other more physically imposing races.

Though a great many moogles choose the life of the machinist, that is not to say all moogles do so; many are skilled knights and mages. Indeed, their diminutive statures notwithstanding, they make for fearsome opponents on the battlefield.

Seeq

The seeq are a portly race resembling the common swine. Though similar in height to humes, their ample girth quickly ends all further comparison. What seeqs lack in intellect, they make up for their quick reflexes. They are stout warriors, using their agility to lash out viciously at foes, while their own bulk serves as a stalwart shield against incoming blows.

Seeqs often find employ as mercenaries or sellswords, with gruff and vulgar attitudes to match. The fall, then, to outright banditry is not so great, and indeed, seeq highwaymen and footpads are a common sight. They lust for gold, jewels, and the like, often adorning their bodies with such, whether ill-gotten or otherwise.

Viera

Long-limbed and silver-haired, the viera are intimately tied to the Wood in which they make their home. Though closely resembling humes in appearance, vieras are said to live three times longer. Their senses of sight and hearing are especially accurate, allowing them to track prey from a distance of many leagues.

The viera listen to the sacred voice of the Wood, and by Her voice learn all that goes on beyond Her boundaries. Called the Green Word, it is law by which the vieras live. Yet for some vieras this is not enough. Those who cannot content themselves with the Wood’s whispers seek to travel the world of the humes and witness its wonders–and horrors–firsthand. Vieras whose curiosities lead them from the Wood are cast out, never permitted to return.
